Angela is an anthropologist with a deep interest in how people experience their lives and the systems that shape them. She grew up as a child of activists and has an ingrained belief in equity and the power of community.
She led a varied career before joining ThinkPlace, working as an archaeologist, a cook, a farmer, an environmental educator, a literacy teacher, a community organizer, and a food policy leader. Most recently, Angela was the Executive Director of First 5 Del Norte in northern California, working to support and advocate for children aged 0 to 5 and their families.
While at First 5, Angela worked with colleagues across the state on issues around rural communities and anti-racism. It was through her work at First 5 that she first began working with ThinkPlace as a client and collaborator.
Angela’s passions include climate change and participatory democracy. She holds an MA and PhD in anthropology, specializing in food and farming in the past and present.
